18:90 Good Question

18:90 Good Question

Scripture:

Judges 6:13

Then Gideon said to him, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”

Observation:

The LORD told Gideon that He was with him—and Gideon asks the age-old question…”IF the LORD is with me, how come all this _______happened? WHERE is the miracle of the LORD?”

Application:

It’s easy to ask this question. SO VERY EASY.  And clearly, it’s okay to ask. But it’s what comes after the asking that is important.  Gideon found assurance, peace and answers in the LORD and recognized and praised Him for it. Too often, I think it’s easier to throw a tantrum “Why is this happening to me? Where are you, God? Are you punishing me? Have you forsaken me? Why are you doing this? Where are you?”  –and that’s fine to throw the tantrum…get the questions out there. But after all that, we need to stay in fellowship with the LORD (Gideon offered dinner, watches the LORD accept his offering, builds an alter, and worships the LORD—all after his tantrum).

Prayer:

Jesus, help me to respond to You in the tantrums of life—help me to ask why?

And then sit back and watch You be the Peace and the Rock that You are.

Help me to recognize and worship you in all of the miracles, big and small.

Amen.
