Scripture:
2 Samuel 24:24
However, the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God which cost me nothing ” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
Observation:
David had just come through a season of his life where he understood true worship—that it must cost him something…so when Araunah offered to GIVE him the thing he desired to worship the LORD in, David understood that true sacrifice and worship must be felt—must be paid for.
Application:
What does your worship cost you? Pride? Arrogance? Time? Space? Giving up other things? This Bible in 90 days journey is a form of worship—anytime we read His word, we are worshipping Him. So, today, think about the cost of your worship—and see if you could be offering more. Is this coming for free, or are you paying a price?
Prayer:
LORD, help us to see the cost of our worship of You as a blessing and as a “cost” well spent. Help us to cherish our sacrifice to You. Amen.
